The property was purchased in 1986 by Jim AKA Jake and Jean Norton with the idea of starting a farm and raising a family on the 83 acres of land.  The property was used mostly to grow corn until 2000 and in 2005, Jake's oldest son, Doug, decided to realize his vision and start Jake's Legacy.

Doug and Vicky moved to the property in 2005 and the first cows were brought to the property a year later.  The property started out small, and continues to grow today.

Doug and Vicky have been realizing Jake's Legacy for the past 10 years, with the help of their two daughters, Lindsay and Laura, and their four dogs, Solo, Kuleto, Bailee, and Penny.  When they aren't working on the property, you can find the two of them relaxing with a nice bottle of wine and sharing with friends and family.

In addition to the cattle, Laura's husband, Dan, planted hops on the property in 2014.  Because of the extreme quality, exceptional soil, and attention to the land, Dan's hops have been featured in beers that have been brewed locally.  You can follow what Dan and Laura are doing with their hops at www.twoakers.com
